Keith Jackson
Managing Director and Senior Consultant
Keith is a former RAF fast-jet pilot with tours on the air
defence Lightning and the ground attack/strike Jaguar. He also
has extensive experience as a qualified flying instructor and
examiner. Keith spent 3 years instructing with the Republic
of Singapore Air Force and was later a Squadron Commander on
Examining Wing, RAF Central Flying School. Since joining Pilotwise
International as MD in 1989, he has worked directly with the
pilot training experts of 15 air forces world-wide, advising them
and developing fast-jet pilot training materials. Keith has
5200 hours flying time on 40 types and marks of aircraft and
is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. |

Roger Searle
Director and Military Flying Training Consultant - Fast Jet
Roger is an RAF trained ground attack fighter pilot and test pilot. Following Ground Attack tours on Hunters he joined No 1 (F) Squadron as it equipped with Harriers to form the World’s first operational V/STOL squadron. Roger is a graduate of the Empire Test Pilots School, flying with Experimental Flying Squadron at RAE Farnborough where he was involved with the first electro-optical night low level flying aid (LLTV), flew carrier approach trials with Harrier aboard HMS Hermes and developed Fly-by-Wire handling with RAE Farnborough’s quaduplex fly-by-wire “Green Hunter”. He was also project Pilot for Institute of Aviation Medicine (IAM) flight trials.
He joined British Aerospace at Brough as an Experimental Test Pilot in 1980 and was subsequently Chief Test Pilot test flying Buccaneer, Phantom, Harrier, Hawk and PC-9 programmes. Having first flown Hawk in 1981, Roger moved to BAe Warton in 1992 to join the Flight Operations Hawk Development team and manage the Hawk 100 and 200 Series production, customer training and delivery flight programmes. In 1995 he founded and managed the Hawk Aircrew User Group. Roger retired from Flight Operations at the end of 2003 and joined Pilotwise, bringing with him his many years' experience in the design and implementation of modern fast-jet pilot training systems. He has 5500 hours flying time on 140 types and marks of fixed and rotary aircraft. |

Barry Cross
Director and Military Flying Training Consultant
Barry joined Pilotwise after a successful career as a RAF fast-jet pilot. He joined the RAF in 1982 training on the Jet Provost and Hawk. His first tour of duty as a Qualified Flying Instructor at RAF Valley’s Advanced Flying Training School. Following conversion to the F-4 Phantom in 1988, Barry joined 74(F) Squadron at RAF Wattisham in the air-defence role. In 1991 he was selected to join the Red Arrows – the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team and flew initially as Red 3, Red 4 in his second season and then Red 8 in his final year. In 1993 he took part in the Team’s highly successful tour to the USA and Canada. After leaving the Red Arrows, Barry spent the next 5 years flying the Tornado F3 with XI(F) Squadron at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire – the final three years as Flight Commander. During this period he took part in numerous operational detachments, completed the NATO Tactical Leadership Programme as well as participating in several North American “Flag” exercises. Barry’s next tour was with 100 Squadron again flying the Hawk to provide adversary tactics for all RAF front-line types. In 2003 he moved back to instructional duties at RAF Linton-on-Ouse flying the Tucano, firstly as Commanding Officer of a basic Fast-jet Squadron and, in his final tour, Officer Commanding the Central Flying School squadron responsible for instructor training. In addition to over 5000 military flying hours, Barry also holds an civil ATPL. |

John Dignan
Director and Military Flying Training Consultant - Basic and Multi-Engined
After a successful career as an RAF Hercules captain, flying instructor and Dominie Squadron Commander, John was for 9 years a director and production test pilot for Slingsby Aviation. He then moved to Hunting Contract Services as Head of Flight Operations in 1996 before joining Pilotwise in 2000. John has 7000 hours flying time on single and multi-jet and single and multi-prop aircraft, holds an ATPL and a Queen's Commission in the RAF Volunteer reserve. |

Phil Dye
Consultant
On joining the RAF Phil initially flew the Jaguar in the ground attack and tactical maritime roles before instructing at the Operational Conversion Unit. He then graduated from the Empire Test Pilot’s School (ETPS), remaining at Boscombe Down on the Fighter Test Squadron. After periods as the Jaguar and the Tornado Project Pilot he became the Squadron Senior Pilot before returning to ETPS as a flying instructor and tutor. Phil left the RAF in 1986 to join BAe Warton as an experimental test pilot, holding a variety of Project Pilot positions that included Production, Jaguar and Tornado as well being engaged in several research programmes. In 1988 he joined the Hawk programme, becoming Project Pilot in 1992 as well as becoming the Warton Deputy Chief Test Pilot. Phil left BAe in 2002. He has just under 5000 hrs flying time on 90 types and marks of aircraft. He has a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering, is a qualified weapons instructor and was awarded a Queen’s Commendation and Air Force Cross while in the RAF. In 2000 he was awarded an MBE for services to the aircraft industry. |

Alex Sandham
Consultant
Alex previously worked for a BAE Systems for 13 years. Her experience of the aircraft industry, together with an in-depth knowledge of the psychology of instruction has enabled her to perform pedagogical evaluation of Computer Based Training and evaluation of aircraft simulation for their customers. She is experienced in carrying out training needs analyses and evaluating aircraft risks in terms of applicable training mitigation. Alex was responsible to the Military Airworthiness Board for implementation of all aircraft safety related training for 3 overseas air forces. |

Polly Whitehead
General Manager Polly started her career as an undergraduate engineering apprentice with British Aerospace and worked at Woodford and Chadderton for 13 years on Nimrod, Victor and Vulcan tankers, Airbus and various research programmes. During this time she learned to fly with the Avro Gliding Club and was awarded a PPL scholarship by the Chief Test Pilot. Polly remains an aviation enthusiast being a successful competition aerobatic pilot flying a Slingsby Firefly, enjoys flying tail-draggers, is a Gliding Instructor and operates self-launching motor gliders. Polly was delighted to join Pilotwise in 2005, where she combines her love of flying with an enthusiasm for writing about it. |
